More than 200 UCSF Health and Campus employees joined local business leaders and community partners on June 3rd for the second annual Supplier Connections Expo, held during Staff Resource Days at the William J. Rutter Center on the Mission Bay campus.
Strengthening Connections at the Second Annual Expo
Led by Marliz Copado, Strategic Sourcing Professional and Procurement Lead for UCSF's Anchor Institution Mission (AIM), the highly rated event brought together UCSF purchasers and employees with certified small and local businesses to build lasting relationships. The expo was co-hosted by the Office of Small Business, Office of Opportunity and Outreach, Campus Life Services, Human Resources, AIM Procurement, and Supply Chain Management. Community partners in attendance included delegations from the UC Office of the President and the San Francisco and Oakland Chambers of Commerce.
Attendees sampled food from 13 local catering vendors coordinated through America To Go and met directly with 15 certified small-business suppliers offering a wide range of goods and services. Raffle prizes donated by more than 20 partners and local businesses, from gift cards to journals to candles, added a festive dimension to the event.
Networking at this event sparked new conversations about the procurement landscape across the institution and as part of UCSF’s anchor mission strategy, this annual event continues to encourage departments to explore the certified small and local suppliers when procuring goods and services.
