The CHAMPS Program is diversifying the future of U.S. health care system by training the next generation of health care professionals. This three-year internship program prepares Oakland teens of color for health care careers. High school juniors shadow UCSF doctors, nurses, and technicians and learn the skills necessary to by compete in the workforce. In a school district where one in four students do not finish school, every CHAMPS student graduates. Many go on to college, often pursuing health care careers.
